Party with Moms decided last week to have a late working lunch at Versailles, or Bistro V as it is also known. Two of us went in after 1:30. By that time the lunch rush was over, but the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating or happy to see us.
We decided to order 3 items we hadn’t tried before, and share everything. But first we each ordered a beer. Allagash and Stella Artois are two favorites of ours and both are on tap at Bistro V, along with a range of others.
For our lunch, we chose roasted Brussel sprouts, tuna tartare and crab cakes with mango pineapple slaw and sriracha aioli. The Brussel sprouts, lightly coated with olive oil, salt and pepper, were roasted to absolute perfection. They were slightly crisp, yet melt-in-your-mouth tender. The delicious raw tuna was served on top of a mound of avocado, topped with cress and was surrounded by the crispiest, lightest homemade potato chips. Finally, the crab cakes (2) were perfectly sautéed. The accompanying mango pineapple slaw was delicate and sweet, while the sriracha aioli gave a dash of spicy Thai flavor.
The staff couldn’t have been more attentive and generous. Gabriela, our server, was all smiles. We asked for more of the aioli, and then more of the chips, which she brought in abundance. Even though it was almost 3 o’clock when we finished, we never felt rushed. We were able to sit and discuss a few more items before we left.
Needless to say, we are looking forward to going back and trying 3 more menu items. The croque monsieur, the chicken BLT, and the angus burger are asking for a try.
Bistro V is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, from 7 AM until 10 PM.
