February 12, 2018 2:04 pm Mom of the Week – Suzanne Donahue of Moran Martine Jewelry & HL
What do you love to do with your children? How old are they? And what is your greatest wish for them?
I love to drag them to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We run around the Temple of Dendur & the Decorative Art Rooms and then usually head out into Central Park. I have a daughter who is twelve and a son who is nine. My wish is that they find early what they really love to do in life and go for it.
Who has had the biggest influence upon you?
No single person in particular, but I suppose music has had the largest influence on me.
What quality do you most admire in a mother?
Adaptability. I’ve seen so many friends with pre-kid careers which they found limiting and less compatible with their new life as a parent, completely reinvent themselves and forge a new career path that allows for more work / home balance. I find that brave and inspiring.
Besides motherhood, what other careers/opportunities have you enjoyed? And what are your strongest qualities?
I had the opportunity these last few years to study and work in design. Currently I run my own jewelry design company, MORAN MARTINE jewelry, martinejewelry.com. To keep things interesting I also work in Real Estate, as an assistant for the fabulous Sally Maloney @ Houlihan Lawrence.
Were you happiest in elementary, middle high school or college? Please explain why.
High School. It was Los Angeles in the 80s, there was a lot of big hair, pastels and great pop music.
What do you like to do for fun and what is your idea of a perfect day?
Vinyasa Flow Yoga makes me so happy, so that is what I do for good clean fun. My idea of a perfect day involves warm weather and outdoors, so most every moment from May to October.
What is one of your favorite books? Movies?
Anything by Joan Didion. I think she’s a badass.
As far as movies go, I’m a sucker for any over the top comedy.
What is your favorite type of food and what do you love to cook?
French Bistro. Le Penguin is my absolute favorite spot in Greenwich.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would love to spend a year, traveling around Europe.
Where is your favorite place to Party with Moms and what’s your drink of choice?
Anywhere where the company is good, and a Tito’s Soda w/ Lime is my favorite drink which my husband and I refer to as The W.A.S.P.
