Meet Marissa Freeman – Mother of Twins, Chief Brand Officer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise

What do you love to do with your children? How old are they? And what is your greatest wish for them?

I love to read to my children (9 year old twins). I do character voices and accents and we snuggle close.

My greatest wish for them is to find something in life that releases their creativity and makes them joyful, and that they can do that every day.

Who has had the biggest influence upon you?

My husband. He has made me a better human.

What quality do you most admire in a mother?

Patience. It’s in short supply, but goes a very long way.

Besides motherhood, what other careers/opportunities have you enjoyed? And what are your strongest qualities?

I have had a long and fairly successful career in advertising and marketing. It keeps my creative juices flowing and also taps my strengths as a leader. Good leaders are like good parents – so many shared values and behaviors.

Were you happiest in elementary, middle high school or college? Please explain why.

Elementary school. Girls are fearless and confident at that age.

What do you like to do for fun and what is your idea of a perfect day?

I like to travel with my husband, ride my bike, go to the movies – alone or with friends – and dance. With a full time job and two children, I don’t get to do any of these often enough.

A perfect day includes any two of the above, plus a few carefree hours playing with the kids.

What is one of your favorite books? Movies?

I remember reading the last page of Gone With the Wind and going right back to page one to start over. Never did that before, or since with any other book.

Abbott and Costello’s movie about the ghosts still makes me laugh, as does Arthur. I’m also a sucker for The Godfather

What is your favorite type of food and what do you love to cook?

Italian food (both).

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I’d take my family to Africa for safari. I went last year for a photo shoot and it changed me.

Where is your favorite place to Party with Moms and what’s your drink of choice?

At my house at the beach – margaritas on the deck!
