Mom of the Week – Lindsay Potter! Mother of Two, Marketer and Capitol Theatre Lover

Mom of the Week – Lindsay Potter! Mother of Two, Marketer and Capitol Theatre Lover

What do you love to do with your children? How old are they? And what is your greatest wish for them?

My daughter Lily is 7 and my son Owen will be 6 in July. I love to just BE with them – playing, cooking, shopping, learning. I especially love taking them to Tod’s Point and hanging out at the beach together. We have a camp in the Adirondacks that is off the grid, and I love to be with them there without TV or phones to distract us. My greatest wish for them is that they grow to be good people who fearlessly follow their dreams.

Who has had the biggest influence upon you?

My husband, he keeps me grounded and encourages me to explore life outside of my comfort zone.

What quality do you most admire in a mother?

Patience.

Besides motherhood, what other careers/opportunities have you enjoyed? And what are your strongest qualities?

I currently work in Marketing with RISE Brewing Co., a local nitro cold brew coffee company, and I love it. Before RISE, I ran marketing for another local startup in the beverage space, and years ago I opened and ran the lululemon store on Greenwich Avenue. I have loved all of my career opportunities in the past decade – all have been challenging and fun, and I continue to learn every day.

I would say that my strongest qualities are that I am friendly, outgoing, hard-working and fun.

Were you happiest in elementary, middle high school or college? Please explain why.

Of the three time periods, I was happiest in college because I had total freedom. I loved living in a new place with a new community of people, and really loved being a part of a great (lacrosse) team.

What do you like to do for fun and what is your idea of a perfect day?

Fun – I love to see music and dance with friends, and exercise – walking, riding my bike, playing sports – anything active.

Perfect day – sleep in, work out, go out to an amazing brunch with my family and then to the beach. Go out to dinner (though I love to cook, a perfect day would not include me working, haha), put my kids to bed and go out to see a show or music with my husband.

What is one of your favorite books?

A Prayer for Owen Meany.

Movies?

Caddyshack, Goonies, Old School, Zoolander… I love comedy.

What is your favorite type of food and what do you love to cook?

My favorites are Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai food – so fresh and light. I regularly crave noodles from Mecha in Norwalk. I love to cook so many different dishes at home but my family favorites are Asian chicken lettuce wraps, tacos, and a chicken divan that my mom taught me to make that is a crowd pleaser.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

New Zealand. I was lucky enough to visit NZ with my family (parents, siblings) years ago and explore both the north and south islands and just fell in love. I would love to one day bring my husband and kids for an extended vacation.

Where is your favorite place to Party with Moms and what’s your drink of choice?

I spend a lot of time at the Capitol Theatre, I love live music and comedy. I saw my first concert there in 1992! We are lucky to have such a beautiful theatre so close to home. Depending on the night, I will order vodka soda with lime or if I’m in a classy mood – a Miller High Life.
