Meet Mom of the Week Jenny Friedman – Adores Motherhood and The Yankees!

What do you love to do with your children? How old are they? And what is your greatest wish for them?

My son turned 4 in November and he is my daily sidekick. We are always running errands, grabbing lunch or making a pit stop at the Aquarium. My greatest wish for him is to be happy – happy with the decisions he makes, the person he is and the impact he is making on the world.

Who has had the biggest influence upon you?

My parents. I have always appreciated and respected the moral values they have instilled in my sister and me. Becoming a mom has made me really understand the 24/7 pressure and responsibility parents feel for their children. My hope is to continue the trend and have my son look up to me as his biggest influence.

What quality do you most admire in a mother?

In our home the word of the day (everyday) is PATIENCE. I am so fortunate to be able to spend so much time with my son BUT that comes with exhaustion. Being able to remain patient even when the exhaustion has taken over is an underrated quality in a mother.

Besides motherhood, what other careers/opportunities have you enjoyed? And what are your strongest qualities?

Before relocating to Greenwich, I was a Media Supervisor for an advertising agency in Baltimore. During those 7 years I was very fortunate to be surrounded by so many wonderful people with very different views and attributes. These relationships allowed me to be open, honest and true to myself – three very strong qualities that play a large role in my ability to stay level headed and genuine in this crazy world we live in.

Were you happiest in elementary, middle high school or college? Please explain why.

My elementary years were so free and easy. I see pure joy and happiness in the younger ages and wish that was a longer chapter in our lives.

Fortunately, I find the same enjoyment in watching my son experience those amazing happy-go-lucky years.

What do you like to do for fun and what is your idea of a perfect day?

The weekdays are so busy that I look forward to our family outings on the weekend. We always try to find new and exciting places locally to visit and make memories. A day that starts with coffee & cuddles and ends with cuddles & stories about the day is perfect for me!

What is one of your favorite books? Movies?

As a mom I have an appreciation for comedic movies about parenting. I find it very therapeutic to watch and laugh while someone else plays out the craziness of my daily life. The reminder that I am not alone in my feelings of stress and worry is refreshing.

If you can squeeze in some down time, check out Neighbors, Bad Moms and What to Expect When You’re Expecting. They do not disappoint!

What is your favorite type of food and what do you love to cook?

I have always been a meat and potatoes type of girl. I am already counting down the days to ideal GRILLING season. There is nothing better than clean, fresh food cooked outdoors.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I would love to take the family to Europe. The compact geography would allow us to visit multiple countries and experience different cultures, cuisine and traditions in one trip. I want to give my son cultural experiences because I believe they will help him to be well rounded and have a true understanding of the real world.

Where is your favorite place to Party with Moms and what’s your drink of choice?

Anywhere outdoors! I am always trying to find new outdoor, waterfront spots that we can get to by boat. Vitamin D and a signature cocktail is the perfect Party for this Mom!
