What do you love to do with your children? How old are they? What is your greatest wish for them?
I have three boys – Teddy is four years old, Jack is two and a half years old, and William turned one in January. They have a lot of energy, so any activities that involve being outside are our favorite! My greatest wish for them is to grow up happy, healthy, kind, and have the ability to pursue their dreams.
Who has had the biggest influence upon you?
My parents and siblings were a very big influence on me. I have two sisters and two brothers and my father is a Republican and my mother is a Democrat. They always told me and my siblings about stories about their activism during the 1960s and they instilled in us the importance of public service.
What quality do you most admire in a mother?
Compassion, unconditional love, and patience.
Besides motherhood, what other careers/opportunities have you enjoyed? And what do you enjoy most about your work?
It’s been an incredible honor to serve the residents of Stamford, first as a state representative and now as Mayor. It was also a privilege to work at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security during the Obama Administration. As Mayor, my goal is to create a more equitable, inclusive, affordable, vibrant City where everyone can thrive, and I enjoy waking up every day and going to work with my team and the dedicated public servants who work for the City of Stamford and work to advance and implement public policy that benefits families.
What are your strongest qualities?
I try to be a good listener and bring empathy to all situations.
What is your idea of a perfect day?
Going to the beach with my husband and boys.
Favorite books? Movies or TV Shows?
Air Force One, Homeland, and The Americans.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Australia and New Zealand.
Tell us what your dream house would look like and where would it be?
Right where I am now in Stamford!
Where is your go-to restaurant to Party with Moms and what is your drink of choice?
Brasitas and Reisling wine.
