Lovely dinner on the patio of Boxcar Cantina last night… Sun setting, gentle breeze cooling us off… Margaritas, of course, delicious and cold as always… Romana and Carlos treating us like royalty… And the dinner? Out of this world fantastic.

We started, as we often do, with their Tee Pee Nachos, fresh from the oven. Hand cut chips smothered with Jack Cheddar, pinto beans, tomatoes, Kalamata olives, sour cream, scallions and green chiles. Then four main dishes, each one fresh and wonderful: Mexican salad with chicken, avocado in a cilantro-lime dressing; fish (red snapper) tacos with green sauce; chicken flautas with chipotle crema; and wild- caught shrimp enchilada with Spanish rice and black beans. All dinners were delicious as usual!

Boxcar Cantina has always been a favorite for us, but summer evening dinners on the patio, with the umbrellas and string of lights just adds that extra aura of relaxation and fun. You feel like you’re away on vacation in some magical, faraway place.
