Party with Moms Exclusive Interview with Hockey Legend, Dan Boyle
You’ve had a very successful career. What accomplishments are you most proud of?
The first is making it to the NHL. It’s been well documented that I wasn’t given the greatest chance at succeeding early on because of my size. Back then defenseman under 6 feet tall were very rare and few and far between. Very few were given the opportunity to succeed. Secondly winning the Stanley Cup in 2004 is my greatest personal achievement. Besides playing in the NHL it was a lifelong dream to hoist the cup and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity. I hope to have it once again before I retire.
What qualities do you admire in a father?
A father who teaches their kids to love and respect others. Someone that instills good morals and confidence in their children and allows them to enjoy life as well as push through some of the harder times. Time is also one of the greatest gifts a father can give. Even with my busy schedule I try to spend as much time as I can with my daughters.
Besides hockey, what other sports do you enjoy?
I love to play golf in the off-season. I try to get out 2 to 3 times a week and also have an annual golf trip with some of my friends. I’m also an avid cardplayer. Besides poker I play pretty much any card game known to mankind!!!
Do you have any favorite pre-game meals and rituals?
I’m not a very superstitious person. If things are going well I’ll stick to a routine but will abandon it the second it fails:)
My meals are usually soup pasta and chicken at about 12 PM followed by a two hour nap in the afternoon. I also enjoy listening to my music about 30 minutes before I get dressed to go onto the ice.
How do you like playing for the New York Rangers?
I’ve loved being a New York Ranger. The organization is first class and wearing the same jersey as some of the greats before me has been an honor.
Congratulations on clinching the President’s Trophy! Do you feel this is the best team you’ve ever played on?
I’ve been fortunate to be on a lot of good teams. Timing is everything and hopefully we elevate our game at the right time. I believe that this Ranger team I am on to be one of the best.
What’s your favorite band/artist? What type of music do you listen to before games?
My favorite music would be known as nu/avant garde metal. I really like alternative music that sounds different within a song itself and also an album. That is why my favorite band is Faith No More. They represent everything I like about music. They are unique and different in a good way. I never know what to expect within a song or album and that’s why I think they are one of the most influential bands ever.
What’s your drink of choice? And where is your favorite place to Party with Moms?
Nonalcoholic: Ginger ale
Alcoholic: Moscow mule.
