February 28, 2015 1:22 pm Happy Birthday to Greenwich Legend, Fred Wierdsma, Bro of the Century!
Fred Wierdsma – Educator, Sportsman, Friend, Father & Grandfather
Fred founded and became Headmaster of The Putnam School in 1973, following years of being a beloved teacher and hockey coach at Greenwich Country Day School. Fred invented the famous Smokey’s Bounders Program. In 1978, when the school merged with Indian Field School, Fred took the helm for 23 years until his retirement in 2001. He remains there today as Development Officer, nature teacher and a fun friend to all the children. Over 40 years of preschoolers have fond and happy memories of Fred. So do their parents, his staff at PIFS, and many friends. Obviously, Fred’s favorite place to Party with Moms is right in the halls of Putnam Indian Field School.
Happy Birthday, Fred, and best wishes for many, many more!
