Mom of the Week – Colette Lopane Capella, Holistic Pyschotherapist!

What do you love to do with your children? How old are they?  What is your greatest wish for them?

I am the lucky mother of four children. I have a four-year-old,  a three-year-old, and eight- month old twins. My four-year-old and three-year-old are my boys and the twins are girls. I know you’re thinking I probably have my hands full and you’re right. But it is the best hands full that I’ve ever experienced. I love to spend time with my kids just doing things that they love. Our favorite place in the world is Disney World and honestly can’t wait to get back there. I love being with them whether it’s at home or we go out to a restaurant, or to the park, just watching their eyes light up with every experience and the innocence of a child,  fills my heart.

My greatest wish for my children is that they find their authentic selves and love. I hope they spread kindness like a wildfire to every single person they meet in every interaction they have. I hope they understand and know their worth and that they are so special and so so so loved.

Who has had the biggest influence upon you?

The biggest influences on me are my mom and my grandmother who we called Nanny. They were by far the strongest, most incredible women I’ve ever met my entire life. The unconditional love that they showed me was the most powerful gift that I’ve ever received and I show that to my children every single day.

What quality do you most admire in a mother?

The quality that I most admire in my mom is her strength. She passed away when I was very young, of breast cancer, but she never gave up. She just kept fighting. She just kept smiling and she always showed love to every person around her and had this gift of making everybody feel special. I admire that about her mostly. Everyone always says how strong I am and my response always is… I owe it to my mom to show one percent of the strength that she did. She fought the hardest battle and never gave up. She is and will always be my hero.

Besides motherhood, what other careers/opportunities have you enjoyed? And what do you enjoy most about your work?

I always say my first baby is my practice. I’m a true empath and for the last 15 years, I’ve owned new day vitality psychotherapy. I absolutely love the sacred work that I get to do with my clients and my holistic group practice. I’ve also written three books and have a local TV show, which is very exciting and always a lot of fun. The part of my job that I enjoy most is watching people evolving and becoming the truest authentic version of themselves. It’s like a beautiful butterfly evolving every step of the way. It’s very sacred and powerful and I’m so honored to be a part of these journeys with my clients and colleagues.

What are your strongest qualities?

My strongest quality is I will never give up. I just keep fighting. I just keep pushing through, probably sometimes to a fault. But I will say I have accomplished a lot of things because I never ever give up. I can also juggle a lot of stuff. Having four young kids, two that are newborns and twins and working full-time and owning a group practice is a lot, but somehow I do it all. Being a mother comes naturally, and it was always meant for my journey and honestly, I love it so much that it doesn’t seem that hard. It just seems the way it was meant to be and enjoyable.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

My idea of a perfect day, is of course first iced coffee, laugh out loud. Then doing something with the kids whether it be going to a local farm, or out to a lunch, or a museum or just an adventure, just being with them brings me the greatest happiness I’ve ever felt.

Favorite books? Movies or TV Shows?

I have so many favorite books, movies and TV shows. It’s kind of hard to narrow it down. But I will own it that I am a true Disney junkie at heart and anything that has to do with Disney, I’m in.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would like to go to Hawaii. It was one of my mom’s favorite places and I just want to have that experience.

Tell us what your dream house would look like and where would it be?

My dream house is nothing that I’m sure the average person shares. I don’t need the biggest, most beautiful house. But I do need a bigger house than we have, now with four children. A house that can fit four of my kids, and has land for them to play outside would be perfect.

Where is your go-to restaurant to Party with Moms and what is your drink of choice?

My favorite restaurant to go to is Brazilian. I love the food, but I also always love the experience. My favorite drink is a dirty martini, extra dirty, although I haven’t had one in many years because I’ve been pregnant back- to- back (lol). But I am looking forward to my next one. Cheers!
