Meet Alissa Pecora! This Week’s Mom of the Week!

What do you love to do with your children? How old are they? And what is your greatest wish for them?

My children are almost 6, Sylvester, and almost 4, Francesca.  They are a day apart within 2 years so the joint birthday party (for now) is always fun.  My favorite time with them is summer because there is so much to do.  We love going to the zoo, aquarium, getting together with friends or just hanging by the pool.  It’s a must for me to keep them busy as they are very active.  My greatest wish for them is that they are happy and try their hardest in whatever they do.  I try to continually reiterate to them that they need to treat everyone with respect, just as they would want to be treated (in a smaller child manner).  It is very important to me that they always look out for one another.  There is nothing like family!

When and where are you the happiest?

I love going on vacation.  It’s just nice to be away from reality even if it is only for a few days.  Going away with the kids is a lot of fun but I also really enjoy getting away, even for one night, with my husband alone.  It’s great to be able to relax and enjoy each other’s company with no one else around.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I would love to go back to Italy again.  I was only there for a short time the last time I visited and would love to be there with my husband and kids when they get a little older.  We are Italian so the food, culture and architecture there are just so amazing to me.  It was one of the most breathtaking places I’ve been to and I only saw a snippet.

What quality do you most admire in a mother? And what woman has had the biggest impression on you?

The quality I admire the most in a mom is the ability to wear many hats and juggle everything while still holding it all together.  I have 2 women that have made the biggest impressions on me.  Of course, my own mom, but my mother-in-law as well, who recently passed away.  They had so many similar qualities but the biggest was taking care of their family.  Both played a mom and dad role when my husband and I were kids as our fathers worked so much.  They both did a remarkable job raising their children and if I am even half the mom that they both have been, I’m in good shape.

What is your favorite book? Movie?

Currently my favorite books are probably Pinkilicious and Shark books.  That’s what we are reading most of the time in our house.  When I sit down at night it’s mostly me browsing through a magazine or watching one of my guilty pleasure TV shows!  My favorite movie, believe it or not, is Dirty Dancing.  I love to dance and did it for a long time so any movie with tons of choreography in it can hold my attention for hours.

What personal achievement are you most proud of?

I’m probably most proud of being a mother in general.  It is such a blessing to have these little people that you mold from birth and watch grow.  I have tried to teach them to be good people and hopefully they will carry that throughout their lives.

What do you feel is your strongest talent?

This is a tough one… probably feeling like I put my all in to whatever I am involved in, whether it be working for my husband and brother-in-law’s construction company, Pecora Brothers, sales for Amy’s Apples and Devilish Delights, taking care of the kids or simply just in my relationships with my husband and friends. I don’t like to do anything halfway.  My mother-in-law always said, “If you are going to do something, do it right or don’t do it at all.”  I try to do it right to the best of my ability.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love to play tennis and have recently started to attempt the game of golf a little more.  Dinner with the girls, date night with my husband, activities with the kids, etc.  I love to be busy and on the go.

What is your favorite time of the day and why?

Favorite time of the day is definitely morning.  I feel like I have the most energy.  The kids tend to play pretty well together and I can usually enjoy my morning coffee while catching up before the daily craziness starts.

Where is your favorite place to Party with Moms and what do you like to drink?

I really enjoy anything on the water or outdoors during this beautiful time of the year.  Summer is so short so I like to take advantage of it.  Two extremes for favorite drink: Prosecco and a nice cold Blue Moon.  It just depends on the day or the season.
